A PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION

On January 26, 2023, the California Supreme Court issued a unanimous opinion holding that Juventino Espinoza demonstrated under Penal Code section 1473.7 that his conviction was legally invalid due to a prejudicial error damaging his ability to meaningfully understand, defend against, or knowingly accept the actual or potential immigration consequences of his plea.  The court reversed the judgment of the Court of Appeal and ordered that the conviction be set aside.  Stephen K. Dunkle and Sarah S. Sanger, of Sanger Dunkle Law, represented Mr. Espinoza in his successful appeal.
